Black and White

The Black and White project aims to better implement Article 12 in the Czech Republic. It combines legal expertise and fieldwork conducted with people with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities, their families or circles of support. The project is implemented by QUIP and the Association for support of people with intellectual disabilities and their families in the Czech Republic (Inclusion Czech Republic).

South Australian Supported Decision Making project

One of the most comprehensive pilot projects and trials aimed at developing a model on supported decision-making based on Article 12 of the CRPD. The approach aimed to maximise the autonomy and the exercise of rights by people with a disability.

The “power of attorney in easy language” is a consulting concept to support people with disabilities to create proxies. It shows how to give other persons, by means of a legal document, power to issue declarations and perform legal acts for an individual.

The Supported Bank Account

The “Supported Bank Account” (“Betreutes Konto”) is a service provided by a mainstream debt counselling service in the city of Vienna in cooperation with some selected banks. The supported account helps the clients with complying to their payment obligations. Through this support service the eviction of many people could already be prevented

Betreuungsverein of Hamburg

This Betreuungsverein is one example for the work of these local associations that undertake in Germany the recruitment, training and management of custodians (Betreuer). They are independent organisations that facilitate the implementation of the German “Custodianship Law” (Betreuungsrecht) and work in close cooperation with the respective courts and social services.

The Personal Ombudsman (PO) is a model for supported decision-making which is independent from all authorities. The Personal Ombudsman helps his/her client with a wide range of issues, ranging from family-matters to housing, accessing services or employment.
